  You should not have either your son or daughter tested, unless they are the ones adopted. You should have yourself tested. In the article, http://dna-explained.com/2012/12/17/im-adopted-and-i-dont-know-where-to-start/ it tells about the various kinds of tests. The autosomal tests are $99. Mtdna and Yline start at $49 at http://www.familytreedna.com.
