Who Do You Think You Are? Returns

wdytya

It’s back. I really like this series for a couple of reasons.

First, it’s real and I think these search stories are universally appealing to lots of people. These stories encourage people to become curious, begin searching, asking questions, to take up the gauntlet – in other words, it recruits new genealogists, which is good for all of us!

Watch Who Do You Think You Are? Wednesdays, 9/8c on TLC, starting July 23.

You can see past episodes here:

The first episode on July 23rd will feature Cynthia Nixon, but lots of celebrities are on tap in future segments.  Episodes will be available to see in summary on Ancestry, below, after they air.

Later this fall, more genealogy shows will be available, including Finding Your Roots and Genealogy Road Show.

July 23rd…..put it on the calendar!  I hope to see a lot of the various kinds of DNA testing, used appropriately, in these upcoming episodes!

  1. It’s very frustrating that ‘Who Do You Think You Are’ won’t be seen by millions of tv viewers who don’t have cable or satellite. Those of us on antenna only tv lose out.

  2. Thank you for the hints. Unfortunately, I’m too old to stare at a computer screen for episodes.
Maybe there will be followup remarks on TLC site. I miss seeing this show on NBC.

  3. Thanks for sharing, Roberta. I’m also looking forward to these shows and the DNA use therein. I expect little from “Who Do You Think You Are” (the last season didn’t have any), but I’m sure Dr. Gates will have lots of fun with the new and improved admixture tools on his show. “Genealogy Roadshow” promised more with DNA than it actually delivered in its debut season; perhaps this time will be different.

P.S. Ancestry is offering a free test with a 6-month subscription. Go to the Ancestry.com link above, and click on the “Learn More” button on the bottom left.

  4. TLC is only offering brief recaps, not the entire show–annoying since I don’t have a TV. Months ago they did have several episodes in full on the web and they were fun to watch (especially as it turned out one of the non-genealogy experts was a friend of mine).
