When one person pays for the DNA testing and another family member takes the test, who legally owns the results of the DNA testing? According to 23 & me, the person who performed the DNA testing has no rights to view their own DNA results unless the person who paid for the test allows them to view the DNA results. Is that correct?
I don’t know the answer to that. I think the policies of each company would need to be evaluated separately, and I don’t know that any case like this has ever been to court.

The Cherokee do not accept DNA as entry into the tribe. You need to call the tribe.

My Mother was adopted in Washington all of her records were sealed she as i was told was all native American. She today is dead and died when I was young. Her adopted parents are both dead as well. I’m trying to figure and find information about her adoption as an native american child so I can know more about my heritage. Can you help?

I have had the D9S919 test through FamilytreeDNA and my results say that I have a value of 16-17. The only info I can find says that a value of 9 is the amount to prove Native American ancestry. My number is higher, do you know what that means?
It has no significance except that it’s not Native.
